Kathy's Breast Cancer Journey

I was 54 years old when I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Inflammatory Breast Cancer (TN – IBC) around the 2nd week of January 2021. Because this is an aggressive type of cancer, they started my chemotherapy about 3 weeks later on February 3, 2021. On July 19 2021 I had a mastectomy and in September 2021, I started radiation.
It was God’s grace that I am here today because I was busy moving out of my house in 2018 and moved into another house in 2019. I did not get my mammogram done. Due to knee surgery and the start of Covid-19 in 2020, I skipped getting my mammogram done again. But the Holy Spirit kept telling me to get it done by the end of 2020 and I finally did on November 30, 2020. There were 3 suspicious areas in my left breast and 2 were cancerous.
Had that cancer formed in 2018 or 2019, when I did not get my mammograms done or had I not listened to the Holy Spirit, I would not be here today! God’s grace!! The breast surgeon told me in January 2021 that the cancer probably had been there for 6 months to a year, and that I was at stage 3.
From the beginning of my treatment to the end, no one was allowed to come with me for any tests or procedures due to Covid-19, Because I had peace from God, I was able to make it through. I kept a positive attitude and I continued to keep the faith. This helped to give my family and friends hope and it calmed their fears and anxieties about my diagnosis. Remember: “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us”. (Phil 4:13)
WE ARE STRONGER THAN WE THINK
